Swordplay with Drent is just short of nightmarish :')

Supposedly training with Armsmaster Drent is an honor to Karigan, but it's also viewed as a punishment at times because he is exacting, demanding, and very drill sergeant.

This training for Karigan took the form of endurance training and building up the strength with her left arm. She will know how to fight with either her right or left hands with this skill. Drent is also the beginnings of the training towards swordsmaster initiate. She's not to that point yet, but she's now extremely skilled with a sword.

She'll receive hand weights with this skill.

Memory Form: a small star-shaped shortbread cookie, dusted with glittering sugar

Okay, so this skill is hysterical... Karigan is horrible ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE at knife throwing. Her armsmaster is the only person brave enough to stand within twenty yards while she's practicing. THESE ARE SOLDIERS AND SWORDSMASTERS IN TRAINING. AND THEY SCATTER WHEN KARIGAN PICKS UP THE THROWING KNIVES.

I mean seriously, she almost kills a kid bringing her a message because her knife slipped.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AT THIS.

... She probably will stubbornly not give up trying to master it.

She'll receive a set of throwing knives when she gets this skill back.

Intrigue is a board game! It's similar in nature to chess. It's all about strategy and tactics. Karigan actually is really bad at it and kind of hates the game, but she does know the basics of how to play it.

The novel thing about Intrigue is that it can be played with two or three players. In a two player set up it is essentially chess. In a three player set up, the third, or triad, player can form alliances with the other players to gang up on one side or another or to backstab etc.

It can get really vicious!

That said, it is also used by the noble class as a teaching tool for their kids.

She will have a game board and the three sets of pieces (red, green, and blue) done in wood in her bedroom.

Game Received: Velveteen Rabbit's create-a-friend game, Day 370, afternoon
Team Played With: Tiger's Eye (Velveteen + Maitimo, Clarise)
Memory Form: a smaller version of the toy you made in the game, though it's much smaller, inanimate, and solely in your team colors now. Play with it to receive your skill!

((Omigod she has a F'ryan Patch puppy doll omigod |D))

She now knows Dances!

... This does not in any way, shape, form, or fashion mean that she's particularly good at them, or that she enjoys them, but she at least knows how to do a few and how to avoid stepping on her partner's feet with some grace.

She will receive a dress uniform with this memory.

Game Received: Auriga's Chariot Race game, Day 369, late afternoon
Team Played With: Emerald
Memory Form: a golden laurel crown. Wear it to receive your skill! Usable only once, obviously, but you can keep it as an accessory.

The Rider's Call is what calls a prospective messenger to the Green Riders. It is a magical calling and usually felt or heard as hoofbeats. It can push a Rider to travel across an entire continent in any weather to take their place amongst the Riders.

Karigan is a pretty rare exception. :')

She resisted the call for a year or more, refusing to join the Riders immediately. Even she could not resist it entirely, and she kept her Rider's brooch with her even though she ignored the call. Eventually she gave into it after it drove her out of bed on a breakneck ride to the capital leaving her two towns over one morning in her nightgown.

For the time being, this reawakens Karigan's abilities in magic. They are minimal abilities except when augmented by her Rider's brooch. She has actually been wearing it since she arrived in Aather, but she could not see it for what it was: a winged horse cast in gold. The brooch identifies Riders to each other -- Riders being the only ones who can see them clearly.

However, given Aather's multiverse nature, if you would like to have your magic user sense the presence of the brooch and be able to see the wavery and indistinct form of the brooch, you are welcome to.

As it says on the tin. She can ride a horse really well. She feels almost as natural on a horse as she does walking.

She'll have a saddle, bridle, and other tack for riding in her room. No horse though. :T

As it says on the tin basically.

This is a novice/intermediate level sword work. She's got natural talent though and is pretty good. She also has some dirty fighting tactics along with this.

This is from Master Rendle for the beginnings of formal training during school and Sevano, the Cargo Master of Clan G'ladheon, for the dirty stuff.
